Have you tasted these little pieces of heaven?????
They are DELICIOUS.
Apparently they are one of those crazy little hybrid fruits, a mix of cherry and plum.
(Hence the name: cherum)
But more important than what they’re called or where they came from, is how sweet, juicy, and fan-fruity-tastic they are!
They are petite in size, but huge in taste. They have a firm pit/core so small bites are best to avoid chomping down on that which is not tooth-friendly.
You could certainly get all fancy with a knife and cut them into pieces, or you could just devour them in 2-3 luscious little bites. (I chose the latter.)
The flesh of the ones that I have are a pretty shade of yellow’ish orange, but there was another variety with a whiter inside. My husband and I tasted both and decided we liked the yellow-flesh ones best.
Anyway, my point is that you should definitely get your hands on some cherums! We found our batch at the OC Great Park Sunday Farmers Market, and I don’t know if they are a local thing or if they’re in-season all over the place. But in any case, it is totally worth a shot at tracking some down.
